For me, a SciFi movie must contain one of four basic plot elements:

• Time Shift
• Reality Shift
• Paradigm Shift
• Technology Shift

Three conceits I am willing to accept to suspend disbelief:

• Time Travel
• FTL (Faster Than Light) travel
• You can hear really cool explosions in space

I use five criteria when evaluating a SciFi movie:

• Enjoyability
• Originality
• Consistency of Internal Mythology
• Believability of Science and Technology
• Logic of Plot and Character Motives
